AI phone answering for a small business: what it is, how it works and how to start

· גרסה בעברית

AI phone answering for a small business is a voice agent that speaks Hebrew and has its own dedicated Israeli phone number for the business. It answers incoming calls and also calls out. On the OneLi site it is called an AI phone agent. It has a knowledge bank about the business, call scripts, and connections to the tools you already use.

Every small business knows the moment when the phone rings while you are with a customer, or after you have closed for the day. A caller who gets no answer is already talking to someone else. The agent is built for exactly that: it answers when the team is busy, collects the details, and makes sure the inquiry is not lost. The home page says calls are answered 24/7, meetings are scheduled automatically, and the agent updates the business's systems. It also says the agent follows up on an inquiry even at two in the morning, when no one on the team is near the phone.

What happens during a call

The home page shows a sample scenario, clearly marked as not a real customer call. A customer calls to book a car service and asks if there is a slot on Thursday. The agent checks availability in the calendar, books 09:30, takes down her name and the car's license plate number, saves the details in the system, and sends her a confirmation on WhatsApp. Another illustration on the same page shows a dental clinic: a question about a whitening appointment, a booking for Wednesday at 17:30, a link on WhatsApp, and a new lead saved in the CRM. The names, business and numbers there are examples.

A call should end with an action, not just a nice sentence. As the site shows it, one call produces an appointment in the calendar, details in the system, and a confirmation for the customer. You decide what the agent may say, and when to pass the call to you.

Questions that come up all day, like opening hours, prices, availability and services, get answered without interrupting the team. When the call ends you are left with a summary, the customer's details, and the next step in the relevant system.

An Israeli number, incoming calls and outgoing calls

The business agent has a dedicated Israeli phone number. It answers calls that come in to that number and also calls out. This is the product for businesses.

Alongside it there is a separate connection for people who already work with an AI agent of their own. Through MCP or the API, your agent can request an outgoing call, and OneLi sends a summary back to the chat. In this use, calls are outgoing only. Answering calls that come in to the business is the job of the business agent, on the business's number.

There is no setup fee. You don't install software and you don't need your own server. You sign in to the management interface in the browser. Infrastructure, maintenance and updates are handled by OneLi. Setting up the first agent also includes the connection to the telephony providers and the Israeli number.

What the agent knows, and what stays with you

The agent is built around a knowledge bank about the business, its products and services, along with objections and call scripts. You decide what it may say, and when to hand over to you. In the interface you see the stages of the call, from the opening to the close, and you can change them. That is also where you find the knowledge and rules, the tools, and a memory of everyone who has already spoken with it. You can correct that memory and delete it.

The same interface sets its voice and the model that thinks for it, the opening hours, the phone number, and what happens when no one answers. You can define details it collects during the call, such as name, phone number and type of treatment. That is how the site describes the editor.

What it connects to

The connections listed on the site are Google Calendar, WhatsApp, email, a CRM, and the appointment booking system you already use. Any other system connects through the API or webhooks. OneLi sets up the connections.

In Google Calendar it books meetings and moves them. On WhatsApp, customers get links, confirmations and reminders. By email you receive the call summary and the lead's details. In the CRM it saves a new lead, a status, and notes from the call. The telephony itself is the Israeli number, for incoming and outgoing calls.

Where you see what happened on a call

Everything is in the management interface in the browser. Every call has a transcript and a summary. You go through the calls, mark what worked and what didn't, and leave comments. From there the agent gets better week by week. There is no app to install and no server to run on your side.

Where the data is stored

OneLi's servers, database and backups are in the Netherlands, in the European Union. Details about the processors, including voice processing, are in the privacy policy.

What the package includes, beyond the number

The home page describes the package like this: an AI agent tailored to the business, speaking in the business's name and in your style, and knowing what it may promise and when to hand over to you. It has a knowledge bank about the business, its products and services, and a bank of objections and call scripts. The Israeli number is for incoming and outgoing calls. The connections are to your CRM, Google Calendar, appointment booking systems and other tools. When a call ends, actions follow from it, for example a WhatsApp link to the customer and a lead update in the CRM. The interface for managing the agent and the calls runs on OneLi's servers.

The example on the site is a dental clinic and its representative, Eitan. The sample card says he is warm, to the point, and speaks Hebrew only. The sample rules: he books appointments and confirms details, does not give a medical diagnosis, and when someone is in severe pain he transfers them to the dentist on call. In the sample opening he introduces the clinic and asks for the caller's name. These are sample names and content, as stated next to the illustration, not a description of a real customer.

The same interface has tabs for editing the agent: Call, Agent, Knowledge and rules, Voice and brain, Tools, Memory, Call settings, Variables, Calls and Sounds. Name, role and personality set what it says when it answers. Knowledge and rules hold prices, services, procedures, and the rules it never breaks. Tools hold the connections, such as capturing details, saving a lead, a WhatsApp link and booking in the calendar. Memory shows who spoke with it and what it will know about them next time, and you can correct or delete it. Calls shows every call with a transcript and a summary. Sounds holds the voice, plus short responses like "yes" and "uh-huh" (in Hebrew) so it sounds natural.

The same agent, different knowledge for each field

The home page has examples by industry, all marked as illustrations. In clinics, the agent answers questions about prices and hours, books and moves appointments, and sends a reminder the day before and an attendance confirmation. In a garage, it gives a quote from the business's price list, books a service, and lets the customer know when the car is ready. For a law firm, the example is answering in the evening too, taking down the case details, and booking a consultation with a summary for the lawyer. In real estate, the example is an outgoing call to someone who left their details, asking about budget, area and timeline, and booking a viewing. In a restaurant, it takes reservations, answers questions about the menu and allergens, and sends a confirmation on WhatsApp. For service providers, it sorts requests by urgency, schedules them in the technicians' calendar, and updates the customer when the technician is on the way. The structure is the same in every example: the knowledge, scripts and tools of the field, on the same agent.

How much it costs

You pay one monthly price that includes the agent and the call minutes. Start costs ₪499 a month and includes 100 minutes, Grow costs ₪699 and includes 250 minutes and WhatsApp, and Pro costs ₪999 and includes 400 minutes, two agents and WhatsApp. Each active agent beyond your plan costs ₪199 a month. There is no setup fee.

According to the pricing page, every plan includes the infrastructure for making and receiving calls, the connection to telephony providers and an Israeli number, setting up and tailoring the agent to the business, a knowledge bank and objections plus training on your products, services and workflows, feedback on every call so the agent improves over time, connections to your systems, and an interface for managing and tracking calls.

When your plan's minutes run out, you can buy a one-time minute pack: 30 minutes for ₪99, 60 for ₪179 or 120 for ₪329. Larger volumes get a quote. The pricing page also says you can build and try the agent for free, with 10 minutes of calls and no credit card, and that payment, once you choose a plan, is processed securely through Lemon Squeezy.

The subscription renews automatically, and you can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.

How to get started

The site describes going live in four steps.

The first step is an intro call. You tell us about the business, the calls that keep repeating, and the tools you work with. Repeating calls can be booking an appointment, a question about price, checking whether an order is ready, or coordinating with a supplier. It helps to come with your opening hours, what may be promised, and the point at which a call should go to a person.

In the second step, OneLi builds the agent: knowledge bank, objections, scripts, and connections to your systems. This work is done by OneLi.

In the third step, you test together and go live. First test calls, then a dedicated Israeli number and live calls with customers.

In the fourth step, you improve from the calls. You go over what happened in the interface, leave comments, and the agent gets better week by week.

Before all that, you can hear what a call in Hebrew sounds like. Call 055-507-1463, no sign-up needed. The try a call page says a call on this line lasts about three to four minutes, and you can also leave a mobile number and the agent on the trial line calls you within a minute. This line is for listening, and it is separate from the agent built for your business. If you would rather look through the screens first, without a live call, go to the product demo: a request, an instruction updated mid-call, and a summary at the end. On the home page you can also write on WhatsApp about your business and the calls you want to hand over to the agent.

The price, call minutes and cancellation terms are all on the pricing page. It also makes clear what is included with the first agent and what each additional agent in the same business costs.
